Things I’m Grateful For

25 Oct

Wednesday 24th October

The December 6th offer of 1x free Kiva Gift Certificate is still open! Click here for details!

Things I’m grateful for or that I’ve appreciated today:

  1. My wheat bag, in bed last night. The night time temperatures are dropping to about freezing point, and I’m sleeping under a 4.5 tog duvet.
  2. My jerky from MartinsJerkedMeat.com arrived this morning. I’ve never had it before, and on opening the packet I thought at first I might have wasted my money. But it’s actually really nice. I went for the beef with Worcester sauce variety, and I wish now I’d bought a couple of packets.
  3. Having a nice lie in.
  4. Lani Nash.
  5. My glasses.
  6. 2 of the books I ordered from Amazon have arrived - The Introvert Advantage and The Sparrow.
  7. I’m off work all day.
  8. I found a wonderful quote today - “Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a gift and not giving it”, by William A. Ward.
  9. I’ve got some more jiffy packs for the charity shop (it’s how I recycle them).
  10. I’ve reloaned some money to someone on Kiva.org.
  11. The sun is shining.
  12. A nice hot shower.
  13. Hot coffee.
  14. Being in a good mood.
  15. I’ve had the idea to give away 1x Kiva Gift Certificate. You’ll be able to lend $25 to someone in a developing nation, completely for free! I’ll be paying for the certificate, so it wont cost you a thing, ever. If you’ve ever wanted to see how these things work, or have wanted to give something back to someone, but haven’t been able to afford it, this is your chance. This is open to anyone who reads my blog. To claim it, post a comment requesting it, and I’ll get the code emailed to you ASAP. This expires in 30 days.
  16. Lovefilm have sent me three more disks.
  17. Teaching Wenna to jump up on command. In fact, just being with Wenna generally.
  18. Hot tea.
  19. Laughing to myself as I recognise myself within the pages of The Introvert Advantage.
  20. Being able to close a window to regulate the temperature a bit. Just imagine for a second having to live in a shanty town… eek
  21. Having a wheat bag to put under my cold feet.
  22. Watching Desperate Housewives.
  23. I got some free chocolate through the door. That sentence contains two of my favourite words - “free” and “chocolate”. lol
  24. I found a funny cartoon. It’s actually quite thought inspiring too.
  25. The snafu on my credit card has been sorted out. I paid my bill a few days ago, but when I checked last night, I still owed the money. I checked the previous statement, and it showed that I’d paid the amount, but it hadn’t been credited. Anyway, I checked again just now, and it shows that I don’t owe anything, which is great.
  26. Electric lighting.
  27. A tasty evening meal - homemade chips.
  28. Watching Spooks.
  29. Realising that sometimes I lack stimulation, and that’s why I eat.
  30. Realising that I had paused all the transfers, and setting them started again.

Things I want to manifest:

  1. A fulfilling day off. MANIFESTED.
  2. More success with the Mimulus/Larch/Centaury combination. MANIFESTED.

Things I’ve done for others:

  1. Left 5 star feedback for the two Amazon sellers who sent me my books.
  2. Hugged a relative.

I had not heard of Kiva before. I just took a look and thought it was a fantastic idea. I decided to give $25 myself. I hope someone claims your offer as i find it to be a nice thought. I will be curious to see if i get paid back. I did look at the interest rate that the in nation lender charges. It was unbelievable until you read that a. they of course, do not have a credit rating system b. they actually go collect the money (door to door). Anyway, i appreciate the introduction to this company
Good luck on a new job.

I got my first loan paid back just the other day. It hung on for ages and ages, at about 33% paid, then right at the end, everyone got their money back.

I’m not sure if that’s par for the course, but it all worked out in the end. And even if the borrower defaults, it’s not really a huge amount of money to lose, in the great big scheme of things.
