Things I’m Grateful For on Monday 28 January
Things I’m grateful for or that I’ve appreciated today:
- My nice warm bed. I had a good night’s sleep last night.
- Watching Wenna get excited about going for a walk.
- It’s really misty here today. Kinda reminds me of the film Rebecca.
- I’m off work all day.
- Hot fruit tea.
- Hot coffee.
- I’ve placed another order at Jacc’s, for more coffee. I always take advantage of their multibuy discount, and the free shipping. The coffee is always tasty, too.
- Playing with Wenna. There’s something so very uninhibited about how a dog plays. No thoughts of “If I shake this toy around, it might hit something and break it…”.
- The simplicity of my car, and the reliability. For example, the ignition barrel has water in it, so I’m having to hotwire it. In most cars that would be a major pain, but in mine I just pull the connectors off, and touch them together. Simple and effective. Just how I like things in my life.
- That my parents raised me to be intelligent.
- Reading The First King of Shannara. I’m enjoying this book way more than the first 3 I read. I hope the next few are as good.
- Altruism. Giving it and receiving it.
- I learned yesterday that human beings aren’t really so different to other species after all.
- Being able to hear. I was just singing along to a song that was playing in the background, enjoying myself, and I realised that if I couldn’t hear, I wouldn’t be able to do that. I’d have that much potential fun subtracted from my life. But perhaps that is the wrong way of looking at it. Perhaps I should look at it as being a base line of “no fun whatsoever”, and being able to hear is a bonus on top of that. So, being able to hear is a +1 on the scale. Or something. The coffee evidently hasn’t kicked in yet.
- I’m looking into Last.fm for some of my music needs. Hopefully, it will suggest some more artists to me that I like.
- Waiting until I’m actually hungry before I eat. I’m having noodles and
something made of Quornturkey kiev’s. And maybe some salad. - Mom looking after the food for me.
- Finding some lentil recipes. I want to have a go at cooking with them. Maybe make some soup? The potato and leek turned out OK.
- A nice warm shower.
- Having 2 towelling bathrobes - one to dry off in, and the other to wear afterwards. Fantastic.
- Having the room heater in my bedroom above the door. It’s just the right height for me to heat the room and dry my hair simultaneously. Note to self: these things get hot. Don’t stand too close…
- I am healthy. I have no health issues whatsoever.
- I’ve sent off for some more free samples from MoneySavingExpert.
- Chatted to Nit.
- I found that some chews that Wenna likes are on special at Tesco, so I’m going to buy a few boxes and stock up. I love having a cashback credit card. I know it’s only 1%, but it’s 1% I wouldn’t otherwise be getting.
- I’ve applied for some money back off LightSpeed, signed up for Quidco and made 50p on Yougov. Quite a good day for earning money, I think.
- I’ve just had an email from Jacc’s telling me that my coffee order has been dispatched.
- A tasty evening meal that I ate when I wanted.
- A pleasant hour spent listening to Paul McKenna.
- Being able to read.
- Finding about 200 new blogs to read. My feedreader, that I only got a few days ago, has no less than 34 feeds in it. I’m a little bit scared.
- Blog’s that use a relative as opposed to an absolute width in their template. I have a widescreen TFT monitor, that runs at 1680×1050 resolution.
Somemost blogs end up as a thin band down the middle of the screen, which is kinda annoying. If you look here, you’ll see that I could get another blog down either side of the page. - I’m starting to be aware in a more rounded sense of how much I want direction in my life. I keep asking myself “what do I want?”, but maybe it’s time to start asking myself “what do I wat right now, in a years time, in 5 years time, etc?”. Do I want <this> for myself?
Things I’ve laughed at today:
- Wenna shaking her toy about.
- Sabrina Matthews.
- Teasing mom about the skin off the rice pudding.
- A funny blog. I don’t recall which one right now, but if I find it, I’ll point you at it.
- Something that took me right the way back to my childhood. Covering the dog with a shawl.
We had 2 dogs, growing up, one of which was 106 when I was young, and didn’t move much, and a younger bigger version of the same. I spent many fun hours getting the extremely large crocheted shawl from behind the sofa, covering the dog with it, and then encouraging it to walk about. I’ve been doing the same to Wenna tonight, and it’s the most fun I’ve had all year. That dog will do anything for treats.
Things I want to manifest:
- A directed day. MANIFESTED.
Things I’ve done for others:
- Ordered a phone charger for mom.
- Made a rice pudding for dad.
