Things I’m Grateful For on Monday 14 April

I’ve found these things to be grateful for or appreciate today:

  1. A good night’s sleep. I seemed to cope fine on 8.5 hours sleep last night. Knowing how much sleep I need as opposed to how much I want might be a useful thing.
  2. Hot filter coffee. I really must get some more.
  3. Realising that it’s time to deal with whatever is coming up. This is possibly going to mean a phase of ingratitude, while I deal with [whatever], which is bothering me because I feel that I’m not going to be able to honestly blog. Providence reminds me that there have been times before when I’ve blogged intellectually, that I could do so again, and that I’m projecting a fear of how it will turn out. Dealing with [whatever] will really help in the log run, and god knows it’s been long enough in coming, but I’m still loathe to do it. All else said, when it’s done and over, I’ll be grateful for that.
  4. Unexpected Fregair. :chili:
  5. Warm clothing.
  6. Being able to close a window, to shut the cold out and the heat in.
  7. Finding out from The Abundance Highway that today is Blogger Appreciation Day (Unofficial).
  8. My PC. I think that being able to access the whole of the internet, or even just get to my desktop is a really great thing.
  9. Being able to actually feel gratitude. It’s been a loooooong time [thankfully] since I couldn’t feel anything. :carrot:
  10. I’m not in work until 1PM, which means I have lots of time to myself this morning.
  11. Mom has ironed my work shirt for me. :dill:
  12. Safe driving.
  13. Work went well. Nice and quick, and quiet.
  14. I scored some extra hours next week, some free cards, some half price Kinder Bueno and some free crisps from work.
  15. The Mimulus worked. I seem to be coping fine with people having a go.
  16. I’m doing news tomorrow, which means free parking, the chance to have a good laugh with Lynn, and leaving at 4PM.
  17. Tomorrow is the last day I have to work before my holiday.
  18. I found £1 on the floor at work, that nobody claimed.
  19. My “contract” hours have been increased to 20, which means I’m pretty much guaranteed 20 hours of work per week. And there always seems to be overtime, on tills if nowhere else.
  20. A tasty evening meal. Meatballs and spaghetti sauce. Very nice.
  21. Jasmine Shanea of Pixelated Thoughts has kindly linked to me, and sent me some traffic. :cucumber:
  22. Ice cream. Just ice cream, generally.
  23. Laughing with mom.
  24. Apple pie. Delicious.
  25. Watching Wenna chase the hose pipe. She gets really aggressive towards it, for some reason, and tries to bite the water.
  26. Finally, after over 3 hours of trying, finding a plugin for Wordpress that will allow external links to be more visible and displayed in a new window. It’s called External Links, and is the cause of all the little blue arrows you now see on the blog. Every time you see the blue arrow, the link next to it will open in a new window. Let me know what you think.
  27. Chatted to a friend I haven’t spoken to in ages, and helped him with a PC problem.
  28. My comfortable chair.
  29. I possess patience. Which is fantastic.

Things I’ve laughed at today:

  1. We have some paperwork at work, that we get every time there’s a new promotion in a newspaper - usually it’s a free DVD or a book or something. I was reading today’s, and it mentioned that such-and-such a DVD would “increase footfall and create a halo effect on the store”. I had a vision of the Virgin Mary angels coming down from heaven a burning bush the store glowing with an eerie yellow light, which naturally gave me the giggles.

Things I want to manifest:

  1. A quick, simple, easy day at work. MANIFESTED.

Things I’ve done for others:

  1. Showed mom how to fix a scratched CD (rub it with a little Brasso or toothpaste).
  2. Served lots of customers.
  3. Agreed to work extra hours next week.
  4. Helped a friend with a PC problem.

What! You clean a scratched CD with Brasso? Is the same Brasso that’s been around since the First World War? It used to almost take your fingernails off if you rubbed the copper pots too long.

Is this a reliable thing to put on your CDs?

Yes and yes. :) A tiny little amount on a lint-free cloth, rubbed radially over the disk will smooth out tiny little surface scratches that cause the CD player to skip. If you use it, make sure you go over the central hole, not in a circular motion. It really works. :)

I’ve learned something today. I never knew that Brasso could clean a CD. My grandchildren taught me that running it under water and washing off impurities would clean it and stop skipping. I was shocked at that one. I guess I’m still stuck with everything I learned about vinyl - it’s not the same as today’s disks.

I’ll put in my list to think supportive thoughts while you take care of whatever it is that you have to handle.

Today, I am grateful for the Internet, because without it, I wouldn’t know you.

    Happy Blogger Appreciation Day!

I am, too. It’s just frustrating to not be there. I want to be there now, instead of being here.

Ooh thank you for reciprocating the link. :) Very very much appreciated too. *smiles*

Now I wonder if I create a ‘things I am appreciative for’ list too, would “having exams this week” go in the list? *ponders. :) Have a good day ahead.

Seriously, I haven’t seen one for about 15 years. I only vaguely remember them.

That depends on how you look at the exams. If you see them as a chance to do your best, and show the word just how fantastic you are at taking exams, then yeah, they could be a good thing. :)

Knowing how much sleep I need is very useful for me. I need a minimum 4hrs. of sleep to function at a decent level. However 7hrs. of sleep is what leaves me feeling the best over the entire day. When I wake up with just 7 I don’t feel like I am sleeping my day away.

    Just 7 hours? Yikes!

Gosh. Now I want meatballs and spaghetti!!! First it was Green & Black’s. Then a bacon sandwich. OK, so I love food, it’s true, and I’m highly suggestible in that area. ;)

Thanks for the Brasso tip, too - I think I heard the toothpaste thing before, but I happen to have some Brasso that I hardly ever use, so here goes…

It really works well. You only need a tiny little dab, and make sure to go across the centre hole with a lint free cloth. Brasso has very mild abrasives in it, which help smooth out the scratches that cause the laser to skip.

Yeah. I’m concerned about someone copying and using the feed nefariously, so setting it to a short feed should prevent that from happening. :)
