Things I’m Grateful For on Sunday 6 April

I’ve found these things to be grateful for or appreciate today:

  1. It’s snowed! Not a lot, and it’s melting fairly fast, but there’s actual, real-life snow outside.
  2. Getting some pictures of said snow.
  3. Hot decaffeinated coffee.
  4. Playing Legend of Zelda.
  5. I got up at 9:30 today, after a slightly late night last night, and I feel fine. It must be doing the early shifts after not getting enough sleep that affects me.
  6. Entrecard have made yet more improvements. You now have the ability to see further back in time who it was that dropped on you. This is going to make life much easier when reciprocating. :dill:
  7. I have the whole day to myself.
  8. There isn’t much chocolate left. Leaving it downstairs for everyone to eat seems to have worked.
  9. Playing with Wenna. I was holding up a ring toy she has, earlier, and she was so very intently watching it. The tiniest little movement and she tracked it.
  10. Lani Nash. Specifically, If You’re Leaving.
  11. A good night’s sleep. There’s nothing else quite as restoring.
  12. Grooming Wenna. She loves being brushed.
  13. The oven. Turn a knob, press a button, and away you go. No chopping down trees for wood to burn to cook fuel. :chili:
  14. The beautiful sunlight that is shining up the garden. It’s on the ivy at the moment, and looks really beautiful.
  15. Realising that some of the relationships I took for granted are actually pretty toxic. It’s better to be alone than be with someone who drags you down, I think.
  16. Chocolate.
  17. I’ve filled the big Ecover bottles up (we have 2 25L bottles outside, one of laundry liquid and one of soft rinse, 2 5L bottles in the airing cupboard (again, one of each), and then individual bottles of whatever product in the respective rooms), which led me to think about ordering some more, which led me to think about spending lots of money shopping and why people like it so much, which led me to think that it’s probably something to do with prehistoric man. [pause for breath] Prehistoric man was on a constant look out for food. Being warm blooded, he had to eat regularly, so he constantly had to acquire more food, better shelter, more weapons, etc. I think that the way people behave when they go shopping is related to that - our brains find something to replace the excitement of the hunt with, and we run with it. We have to go out hunting for new clothes, or whatever. It’s not about spending the money. It’s about getting what our brains, in their slightly confused way, tell use we need.
  18. I am aware of my moods. Not so long ago I was emotionally flat, and really had trouble working out how I felt about anything.
  19. I’m considering doing a series of articles on how to improve one’s own attitude of gratitude. Would you guys be interested?
  20. A tasty evening meal of meatballs and spaghetti. Especially seeing as there is hot lemon meringue pie for pudding. :cucumber:
  21. The lemon meringue pie is delicious. I’ve had 3 4 helpings.
  22. Getting some backups sorted out. I hate not having them done.
  23. Laughing at a TV programme about exorcisms.
  24. Hot cherry tea.
  25. A nice scalding shower. :carrot:
  26. I’m not in work until 1PM tomorrow.

Things I’ve laughed at today:

  1. I was laughing with Nat when we were taking the mickey out of mom’s cleaning obsession.
  2. This blog posting.
  3. I threw one of Wenna’s toys up the garden in the snow, and mom complained she’d already had to “rescue” one of her toys from the juniper bush already. I teased her about the toy dialling the emergency services from it’s mobile phone, and saying that it was stranded on top of the bush, and could they get someone to help it.

Things I want to manifest:

  1. A fulfilling day.

Things I’ve done for others:

  1. Shared the wealth.

    1. We did get quite a bit of snow, but it didn’t last. I liked that - it looked pretty and then it went away.
    6. I had a reasonable system worked out I thought, and now I’m going to have to rethink. I seem to have visited far more places than usual and yet missed out some regulars. Something went wrong.

This is my old system - friends and reciprocators get dropped on daily, from a specific bookmarks folder. I then go through the 300 sites I have bookmarked that load quickly and have the card above the fold, and go through them until I hit 300 drops.

My new system (as of today) is similar, but instead of going through the 300 sites second, I do it third. Second is now going through the drops inbox and dropping on people to reciprocate.

It’s easy. It’s even easier if you use Firefox. There’s a Greasemonkey script that makes it very easy to add them. Other than that, you’ll need to know some HTML to add them to your postings?

I’ll get on it soon. Don’t hold your breath, though. I don’t think they’ll be done in the near future - I have to wait until the muse grabs me. :)
