Things I’m Grateful For on Wednesday 30 April

I’ve found these things to be grateful for or appreciate today:

  1. The commenting leaderboard stands as follows:
    1. Bob C.
    2. Ree/LiLi.
    3. Quin.
    • There was quite a change in the leaderboard last night, with several comments arriving, and 2 referrals, each of which earns their referrer 5 points. You only have until 12PM GMT/UTC tonight to get your entries (and referrals) in, so do it quickly! I’ll be posting the winner tomorrow, because I want to make doubly sure that I have the correct numbers. Good luck, everybody!
  2. A good night’s sleep. I woke up quite early today - 8:30.
  3. Weird dreams in the night. I was back in prehistoric times, looking for food. I spotted a bulb growing in the ground, so I started to dig it up, and ended up with several huge potatoes. 2 experts were there, a guy in his late 50’s, and a guy in his 30’s. Anyone want to take a stab at this?
  4. Resolution of the issue with my web host. They think that my account was fraudulent (for some bizarre reason), and they now want my Paypal password. Yeah, because that is going to happen, isn’t it? So, I’ve emailed them requesting that they close my account, and give me a full refund, as per their terms and conditions. I may lose the domain name I wanted, but there are other’s I can use.
  5. Hot coffee.
  6. Getting up at 8:30. Gives me plenty of time to do stuff.
  7. Mirrors. I’ve just spent the past 5 minutes trying to get an eyelash out of my eye, which would be nigh on impossible without a mirror.
  8. Warm clothing.
  9. The autonomy of breathing. Can you imagine how much more difficult life would be if we had to actually consciously breathe?
  10. I have enough change for the parking meter.
  11. I’m not in work until 1PM.
  12. A nice hot shower.
  13. My electric toothbrush is fully charged, which made cleaning my teeth very invigorating.
  14. Breakfast cereals.
  15. I’ve been paid! :broccoli:
  16. Potentially finding a new webhost, with policies that I really like. I’ve seen some good reviews, and I’m going to wait and see what their response times are like. There are a couple of features that they don’t have that I might need. I don’t think I do, but it’s possible. Providing I don’t need them, I’ll be signing up with them in short order.
  17. I’ve paid off my credit card bill. Thank goodness! :chili:
  18. Safe driving.
  19. Work went well. Well, I’m glad it’s over. I think it was lunatics-and-weirdo’s-hassle-Solomon Day today.
  20. I am so grateful that I am not married or otherwise related to some of my customers, like OCD Guy, or Mad Pigeon Woman, or Nasty Nurse. Or 404 Guy. Or Mr Tasty - he smells so bad I can taste it.
  21. Laughing with Dinky.
  22. Hot coffee.
  23. Chatting to some of my regulars.
  24. The 3 people I thought might be under 16, who I sold Lotto tickets to (highly illegal if they are under 16), apparently weren’t. At least, I didn’t have Trading Standards after me, so that’s cool.
  25. I got a complete refund from the old host. :cucumber:
  26. Getting sorted with the new host. Finger’s crossed, it looks like everything is going to plan.
  27. I’m getting very excited about the close of the contest.
  28. Chocolate.
  29. The fuel economy on my car. 60mpg is not to be sniffed at.
  30. Lovefilm have sent me a couple of DVD’s.
  31. I have a 3 day weekend this week.
  32. Seeing the birds in the garden.
  33. I don’t have to be in work until 1PM tomorrow, so I can stay up late for the finish of the contest.
  34. Getting the new site set up. All seems to be working well, finally, and people appear to be reading the articles, which is hella cool.
  35. The contest is closed. It’s been a fun month, but now it’s over. I’ll be announcing the winner tomorrow.

Things I’ve laughed at today:

  1. Laughing with Dinky.
  2. Something a customer said. I don’t recall what it was, but it gave me the giggles.
  3. Scaring some pigeons. Yes, I am that much of a big kid. We have rather large windowsills at work, and I was in the staff room on my break, when I noticed a couple of pigeons on the windowsill outside. I crept up underneath the window, then shot up, scaring them.
  4. Wenna was lying on the sofa earlier, with her head in mom’s lap. I had the dregs of my cup of coffee in my hand, so I put the cup by Wenna’s nose so she could drink it. I tipped it up, but there must have been more left than I thought, because I tipped cold coffee all over my mother’s lap.

Things I want to manifest:

  1. A complete refund from my webhost. MANIFESTED.

Things I’ve done for others:

  1. Served lots of customers.
  2. Helped Julie with some books.

I hope you’ll tell us which webhost - I have to recommend that sort of thing for my clients all the time, and I’d prefer to steer them away from such shoddy service! Totally ridiculous to ask for your Paypal password.

Pretty cool, that you didn’t get into the phishing thing. PayPal password, indeed :snort:!

    Happy thoughts to you today!!

I haven’t actually has the refund yet. It’s due, but I’ve only just emailed them to confirm my request for cancellation, but I should get everything back. After 3 days, I lose $10 for the domain name, but they’ve said they’ll release it, so I should get it back.

It was Bluehost. It’s a .com address - I’m not linking to it, for obvious reasons.

Yeah. I think the whole point of using Paypal is to keep one’s details safe.

Following a theme is easy. I love the fact this site has a theme, because I never have to think about what to blog about. Thank you for visiting.

austie was a referral from me, you know.

And I do. They certainly seem to be up to their smarts, and they’re very cheap too. I pay $1 per gb of bandwidth used, but I’ve used about half a gb on this blog this month, so that’s cool. If everything goes to plan, I’ll name them in a weeks time.

Round these parts, they’re known as “flying rats”.

Thank you, so do I. My life has definitely improved since I started it.

I deliberately chose one with a 30-day money back guarantee. And paid with Paypal, for a bit extra protection. I was with them for less than 2 days. What amazing service….
