Things I’m Grateful For on Saturday 3 May
I’ve found these things to be grateful for or appreciate today:
- Getting a good night’s sleep. I didn’t get to bed until 1AM, and it’s just after 8 now.
I’m sat here, having had 7 hours sleep, managing to form coherent sentences. Or at the least they appear coherent, to me. If I type dbda duwhuw wr9rllryryeeeeeeeeeeeeee, it looks like nonsense. You guys would tell me if I started writing gibberish, wouldn’t you?
- Electric kettles. Add water, flick a switch, and you get hot water. Such a boon, don’t you think? How much more awkward would life be if we didn’t have kettles?
- Seeing a magpie, a thrush and a bumblebee in the garden. The wildlife certainly seems to be starting up again.
- Playing with Wenna.
- I have 12 jobs to get done today. I love having a job list. Especially when I know I can achieve every single one of them!
- Finding another shoot on the Aspidistra “Okame”. That’s 4 now.
- Getting paid £5 from Lightspeed surveys, and making another £1 that will be paid later.
- Job 1 - Roboform has been updated.
- Job 2 - asking about tables and HTML has been sorted.
- Also seeing 2 Blue Tits in the garden. One of them left with a beak full of Wenna’s fur.
- Job 3 - working out how to run 2 copies of Firefox - has been done. See this Lifehacker article. It requires 2 profiles, but it’s really helping me drop Entrecards faster. I’m going to write an article about this at some point.
- Job 4 - start on Beech and find the Chicory - is done. I knocked the Chicory off my desk last night, in the dark, while groping for my notepad to jot something down on it.
- Seeing a hedge sparrow and a house sparrow in the garden, too. So many beautiful birds.
- A tasty bacon sandwich, with some hot Earl Grey tea to follow.
- I’ve been paid back by another $5 on Kiva.org. I’m up to $363 now.
- Job 5 - sort out the Entrecard droplist - has been done. I’ve taken off the sites that don’t reciprocate, leaving my favourite blogs, who get a free pass.
- It’s just hit 12 midday. I’ve found 16 things to be grateful for so far today. I think this qualifies as “a good day”.
- Job’s 6 & 7 have sort of been done, in the midst of doing something else. I’ve created a list of articles I want to write, which will help keep me focused. To those of you who are wondering if I’ve forgotten about the gratitude articles, I promise I haven’t. I just have to write as the muse leads me to, and at the moment, it’s leading me towards Entrecard. I am coming with some useful ideas for articles on the subject, so all hope isn’t lost. I promise I will get them done.
- Job 8 is done. I’ve checked on the RandomBlatherings theme, and all appears to be working fine.
- Job 9 is done - I’ve found my uniform out ready for next week.
- Job 10 is done - I’ve asked on the Entrecard forums about some odd behaviour I’ve been seeing.
- A nice hot shower. Very invigorating.
- A nice big glass of cold water.
- The Entrecard powerdrop page I create for RandomBlatherings is now listed at Powerdropping.com, at #31, and the one I created for this site is at #64!
- Job 11 is done - I’ve fiddled with the theme a bit more on RandomBlatherings, to make it a bit more user friendly.
- Beans on toast, with cheese and brown sauce. Delicious!
- Job 12 is done - I have a little hack I use for Wordpress that shows the latest post on the Dashboard, which I find really useful, and I’ve added it to all of my blogs.
- Tasty cherry pie. Mmm!
- Listening to Paul McKenna.
- More cherry pie and hot coffee.
- It’s bath night.
- Getting another posting onto RandomBlatherings.
- A lovely hot bath, with Lavender, Orange, Petitgrain, Clary Sage and Rose Geranium essential oils in it.
- Reading an interesting book, that’s given me a couple of ideas, one of which is for another post on losing weight.
- Cold cold water afterwards.
- I’ve been looking at the amount I’ve been paid since I started my job, and it seems I’ve been overpaid. Which I’m quite happy about, actually. I could well be wrong, so I’m going to check with my boss when I see him next.
- I’ve checked on the automated blog backups, and they appear to be working OK. I’ve decided to synchronise them, too, just for the fun of it.
- Reading up on monetizing my blog. I do want to create multiple streams of income, and seeing as how I spend so much time online, I figure it’s a good way to start earning another income. That’s another job for tomorrow, I think - making a list of all the places I could earn money from online.
Things I’ve laughed at today:
- I clicked on the wrong link in my bookmarks earlier, which bought up a different page to what I expected. I said “What am I doing?” out loud to myself. Providence came right back with “Not paying attention”.
- The Chinese proverb, “A man without a smiling face must not open a shop”.
Me to a T.
Things I want to manifest:
- Everything off my job list done. MANIFESTED. Everything that I can do, has been done.
- Remembering the basis of that article.
Things I’ve done for others:
- Listened to Gladys mom talk about nothing for 5 minutes.
- Helped her with the shopping.
- Brushed the dog.
- Put the dogs fur out for the birds.
- Showed mom how to do a sudoku puzzle.

Sounds like the wildlife is out in full force. The weather must be nice where you are. “Blue tit”- what an interesting name for a bird
Hope you have a lovely weekend!

I figured I’d better link that one. There’s also a bird known as the “Great Tit”, which is similar to the Blue Tit, but slightly larger.
I’m going to stop typing now.

I am. I find having a job list really helps, because it keeps me focused, instead of letting me flit from this to that to the other, and not actually getting anything done.
Your new blog is looking nice.
May 3rd, 2008 at 6:17 pmI like your blog. I think it’s important to think about all the things we are grateful for. I try to do it more often. I will be back to your blog for inspiration.
