Things I’m Grateful For on Saturday 31 May
Today’s list of things to be thankful for or appreciate:
- I’m off work all day.
- I have a list of things to get done today.
- Having Alice Peacock on random.
- Realising that there may be a problem, and then taking steps to deal with it. Denial doesn’t help me, long term.
- There are definitely some flower buds on both of my Streptocarpi.
- LiveHTTPHeaders. It’s a Firefox extension that really helps when debugging why a site is so slow, by showing you the HTTP of the site, and allowing you to see what is going on at any given point.
- Standing in the back door, looking up at the garden in the sun. The foliage was beautiful in the bright sun, and what made it even better was the fact that there were bubbles!
- Lovefilm have sent me a couple of DVD’s.
- I’ve ordered some wild bird food via Quidco, which means I should get 10% cashback.
- Breakfast cereals.
- The weather looks to be sunny all day.
- I am constantly earning more money. I realised last night that I already have a source of passive income - the money in my savings account is earning interest without me doing anything at all to it. I think it’s great to be able to get more money by doing absolutely nothing.
- Hot coffee.
- I’ve washed the water filter. I feel so good to be able to go to the fridge and get a glass of cold filtered water. And so lucky.
- Hot water. The more and more I think about it, the more and more I realise that I’m so very lucky to live in a developed country. Food, water, a comparatively stable economy, etc. All blessings that I take for granted.
- The Quidco transaction has tracked.
- Finding some other retailers on Quidco that I regularly use, most notably Bunches. They’re a UK flower delivery service, and they’re fantastic. They regularly have discount codes and vouchers, and other offers available, and the prices start from less than £10. I’ve had nothing but good service from them. They also offer Posy Points, which you can earn with every order, that equal 5% cashback. I’ve put a few orders through them, and am saving up my Posy Points to buy myself an Orchid. I have £8.16 worth of points so far, so I have a bit longer to go, but I don’t know of many other online retailers that offer this service. They’re a fantastic alternative to somewhere like Interflora, who have a minimum order of £19.99, and no special offers. This has turned into a bit of an evangelism for Bunches, but I’m just really excited about them.
- Smodging on a sun-warmed Wenna.
- I have plenty of stuff to list on Ebay.
- A nice hot shower.
- I’ve cut some of Wenna’s treats up, to make them go further. She nom’s down her biscuits and such like someone is going to take them off her, and it’s costing a fair amount. So, I’ve cut each of her chews up into about 15 pieces. I know it sounds mean, but at nearly £4 a packet for 6, it’s a lot of money.
- Tidying the clothes pile.
- I’ve sorted out my list of things to take when I leave the house, and I’m hopefully going to get it printed up soon.
- I’ve figured out a few things I need to discuss with my boss.
- Nat paid for something she wanted directly.
- Hot hardboiled egg. I haven’t had a boiled egg for ages!
- Reading this Readers Digest article on happiness. I already do most of the stuff it suggests, so there wasn’t much new info in there, but it’s cool to know that the experts agree with me. /preening.
- Getting another item listed on Ebay.
- And another.
- A nice long hot bath.
- Doing Fregair and ranting at the same time. Interesting experience. It’s certainly given me some new material for my novel.
- I’m off work all day tomorrow.
Things I’ve laughed at today:
- Mom shouting “Shoo! Naughty pussy!” at the TV while watching a show about cooking. In the scene, a cat was eating some canapés.
- Making mom jump.
Things I want to manifest:
- Lots of stuff done from my job list.
- Emotional freedom.
Things I’ve done for others:
- Ordered some bird food.
- Bid on some tea for mom.
- Tried to fix Nat’s PC.
- Ordered a new motherboard for the PC.

i pace and wait for my package.
it’s a beautiful day to pace and wait.

The OpenSource community is something I not only try to participate in and give back to, but I am also very grateful for.

I had to ship it surface mail, to keep the cost down. It weighs about a kilo, I think. Airmail would have cost about $30.
I shipped it on the 12th May, but it can take up to 6 weeks to arrive.
