Things I’m Grateful For on Sunday 4 May
I’ve found these things to be grateful for or appreciate today:
- I’m off work all day today.
- I had a very good day overall, yesterday.
- I have a job list to accomplish today, which means I shall be entertained all day.
- Getting a good night’s sleep. I really must write an article on that.
- Strange dreams. This time I was walking along a beach, which was really long, and there were lots of disabled people enjoying a day in the sun. There was also a white symbol that looked like a Star of David, that I kept seeing. Bizarre.
- I have the whole day to myself.
- My spectacles. I’m as blind as a bat without them.
- Working out some issues with Wordpress 2.5.1’s HTML editor. I wanted to
centerthe Buzzfuse widget below, which worked fine in the HTML view, but when I used the Visual view, the HTML was stripped out. I got around it by using a single celled table, with the width set to 100%. Then, I put the Buzzfuse code inside the table, and usedalign="center"within the cell, to move the contents to the middle of the page. Now, no matter what the resolution on someone’s monitor, the widget will always be in the middle of the page.
I love working things out like that. - On another blog I have, I use tables to fill in the information. Depending on how much info I have, I have multiple rows. With Wordpress 2.3, I could use the Tab key to add a new row to the table. WP 2.5 broke that functionality, which I found to be a royal pain, because it meant editing the HTML every single time I posted. However, on Googling, I found this page, which specifically mentions being able to use the Tab key add an extra row. It turns out that a plugin called FCKeditor (it’s the developer’s initials) will replace the normal post editor (the buttons at the top of the post window, that add bold, italic, etc, text), and allow me the functionality I desire. There’s a demo that you can try out here. This is going to make life so much easier again.
- Hot coffee.
- I have some DVD’s to sell on ebay, but I don’t have the full set, so I’ve just bought the 2 I’m missing (from ebay) really cheaply. The full set will fetch a much higher price than individual disks.
- Wenna now keeps trying to get in the shower with mom, after Nat and I trained her to, the other day.
- Hot coffee, again.
- Some very tasty chicken nuggets from Tesco’s.
- Seeing a thrush in the garden. He came down, and started eating some old scones that I’d put out. I hadn’t broken them up into small enough chunks, apparently, because he kept trying to pick up pieces that where bigger than his head. Mom and I were in the window giggling, because we were telling it to “break them up first”, “you’ll choke!” etc.
He came back a bit later on, and tried the same trick again. - Teaching mom to play sudoku. She’s picked it up really quickly, and now she’s showing dad how to do it.
- Seeing the new growth on the Hosta’s up the garden. One of them is a bright grass green, with a pale white centre. It looks really new and fresh and vital.
- Smodging on Wenna.
- I’ve been tagged for a meme.
- Getting the meme done and posted.
- Edited a widget to make it more SEO friendly.
- Caught up on a few little jobs I’ve wanted to do for a while.
- I’ve named the Hedge Sparrow that we get in the garden Jake, because he only has one leg, poor thing.
- I’ve ordered some dried mealworms for the birds that are coming into the garden. We had 4 pigeons, a tree sparrow and Jake a few minutes ago.
- I found some fairly decent rechargeable batteries online, that will be great for my camera.
- Hot fruit tea.
- I’ve joined the U Drop I Follow Entrecard movement. Members will reciprocate Entrecard drops left for them.
- Dropping 600 Entrecards.
- Fiddling with the quick drop pages, to enhance them.
- Someone clicked on the Buzzfuse widget, and rated the post!
Thank you very much, whoever you were.
- I’ve figured out what was causing the dropx.htm files problem while dropping my Entrecards - I was holding down Alt while clicking.
- Thanks to the magic of the internet, I now have 2 versions of Firefox. The first is for my normal everyday browsing, and the second has a different theme, name, icon set and set of extensions, that I use for Firefox.
- Chocolate flavoured breakfast cereals. Nom nom nom…
- I’ve refilled all the Ecover bottles in the house.
- Mom has mentioned that the white washing isn’t coming up bright enough, so I’ve ordered her some Ecover Integrated washing powder, which contains their laundry bleach, which should help.
- I’ve priced up the Ecover products I’m going to order, and I’ve decided to get them from Ecotopia again. They do free delivery over £100, which is great, and they sell the full Ecover range.
Things I’ve laughed at today:
- #14 above.
Things I want to manifest:
- Another fulfilling day like yesterday. MANIFESTED.
- Thoughts and ideas on monetising the blogs. MANIFESTED.
Things I’ve done for others:
- Took mom to fetch the shopping that Tesco couldn’t bring.
- Taught mom how to do sudoku.
- Put some of mom’s music on the PC for her to listen to.
If you enjoyed today’s posting, please consider rating it. Just click the widget below, and then click on a star. It only takes a few seconds, and I’d be really grateful. ![]()

May 5th, 2008 at 2:50 amIt’s odd, but we like the same kind of music. I got her some Mary Hopkins and Glen Campbell, and I was singing along to it without realising while I was sorting it out for her.
Thank you!
I’m glad you found it enjoyable.
