Things I’m Grateful For on Tuesday 27 May
Today’s list of things to be thankful for or appreciate:
- Getting a good night’s sleep. That is to say, that I’ve woken at 6AM today, apparently without any ill effects.
- Realising that I really need to change jobs.
- Hot coffee to help me wake up.
- My bed was lovely and warm last night. It seems to be the case that if my feet are warm, the rest of me is warm.
- I’m not usually one for affirmations, but this morning, as I lay in bed trying to squeeze an extra few minutes out of the day, affirming that I love myself definitely made me feel much better.
- Listening to Might As Well Have Fun While You’re At it by Alice Peacock made me feel better too.
- Knowing that I have Rescue Remedy to help me handle the day, which I’m going to take with me, even though I hopefully shan’t need it.
- A nice long hot shower.
- I’ve recognised the need for Mimulus.
- Having time to myself before work.
- My car. I don’t have to get a taxi to work, at this time of the morning, which would be ridiculously expensive, and inconvenient.
- I made sure I have all my uniform & keys and such ready last night.
- Safe driving.
- The working day is over.
- I got on much better with the customers than I expected to.
- A tasty Greggs pasty. I really ought to stop eating them - they’re fattening and expensive.
- I’m not in until the afternoon tomorrow.
- Some half price chocolate and drinks.
- Laughing with my colleagues. J2 swatted me with a magazine, for playing her up, and we were laughing about me asking her to do it again. I was also laughing with L this morning, when putting the magazines out, about various things.
- I have a 3 day weekend coming up, which I’m being paid 2 days of.
- A nice looong nap when I got in. Longer than I expected, but it was apparently necessary.
- Getting lots of change for the parking meter.
- Getting compliments on my new haircut.
- Listening to Paul McKenna.
- Having enough money to buy a bottle of water from work. I really feel that this helped me today.
- Eating a sufficiency.
- I actually thought today about where I want to be in a years time. And I think that that’s why I’ve always drifted in the past - I’ve never given myself something to aim for. I’ve just taken each day as it comes, which is fine, but not exactly conducive to a fulfilling life. If someone had told me when I started my first job that I’d have been there over 6 years later, I would have either laughed at them or been extremely saddened. But now, I’m more aware of that, so I can start to develop a plan of what I want to achieve in the next year. Nobody is going to do it for me.
- Listening to Lani Nash. - If you’re Leavin’.
- Getting a text off Dinky.
- The cord on my headphones is just long enough to reach the bed. I can comfortably lie in bed and listen to an hypnosis tape, without having to worry about waking anyone up.
- Smodging on Wenna.
- Reading some interesting websites.
- MIM - not having to play at families.
- Having the idea to go for a walk over the weekend. I’d like to get out and get some exercise, and maybe take the camera with me too. No point waiting for other folks to decide they want to do it too.
- Hot chocolate.
- A slice of some tasty homemade cake.
- Looking out for myself. I seem to be getting more and more self reliant as time goes by.
- I’m a different, way better person now than who I was 12 months ago.
- Picking up a huge amount of new mealworm pupae today.
- Nat has mentioned that she’d like to go for a walk on Sunday. Weather permitting, I’m going either way.
Things I’ve laughed at today:
- Laughing with my colleagues.
Things I want to manifest:
- A quick, simple, easy, pleasant day at work, with really nice customers. MOSTLY MANIFESTED.
Things I’ve done for others:
- Covered breaks.
- Served customers.

Today, as always, I’m grateful for my friends.

I spent 6 years not doing something about it. Then I realised that life is too short, and that the time to be happy is indeed now. So 6 months ago, I left a rather negative situation, and got a stop-gap job.
And I feel much better for doing that. It’s now time to move on from the stop-gap.

May 27th, 2008 at 6:08 pmHi Solomon. I used to work in a retail store and I understand about customers. They can be wonderful or terrible. I suppose it is up to us to make it either way, also.
May 27th, 2008 at 7:10 pmOh, the Gregg’s pastry sounds great. The good and fattening ones are the best. lol…
Have a good day!

This is true. But they’re wrecking my diet and my budget.
They’re such a momentary pleasure.

If you’re writing a gratitude list (which is a really cool thing to do, BTW), you might find this article I wrote helpful. Mealworms are the larvae of the darkling beetle, and they’re a great food for birds. They can be expensive to buy, so I’m breeding my own.
May 28th, 2008 at 8:33 amThat is a marvelous list; quite often the small things become the important things.

You’re absolutely right. It’s all about how much significance we give them.
