Things I’m Grateful For on Sunday 1 June
Today’s list of things to be thankful for or appreciate:
- I’m off work all day.
- I have a bid on an Ebay item I listed last night.
- Hot coffee. Though I must admit I’m leaning towards trying Teeccino. It’s a herbal alternative to coffee, without any caffeine, or, more importantly oxalic acid, which has been implicated in causing kidney stones. I could just be being paranoid, but I’d rather not do something that has the potential to damage my health like that. I can get around eating food high in fat by exercising. I can’t very easily perform surgery on myself to remove a kidney stone. The only real reason I drink coffee is for the taste, not for the caffeine hit, which for some reason, doesn’t seem to affect me. I’ve had a mug of coffee before now and been asleep 15 minutes later.
- Getting a good night’s sleep.
- Being careful with my money. I want a couple of posters, and some Teeccino. In the past, I’d have splurged on them, irrespective of how much I had in my bank account, but now, I’m stopping to think about what I need versus what I really really want. Because most of the time, once I’ve got what I really really want, I don’t seem to want it any more. It’s the thrill of the chase, the joy of acquiring. There are enough things in this world for me to get excited about, without having to pay for them.
- I bought a packet of coffee filter papers ages ago, and I’m still only halfway through the packet. I’m saving money and the environment.
- The weather looks to be dry today, which means that the walk is going ahead.
- I am constantly developing and bettering myself. This is wealth.
- I have lots of adult mealworms. I can’t wait for some babies to arrive.
- Playing with Wenna.
- A delicious banana.
- I’m doing lates all next week at work.
- Having access to an massive amount of choices.
- 2 very tasty crispy bacon rolls. The fact that I created them myself makes me feel even better.
- Figuring out that the reason Wordpress 2.5 is slow when posting is because it’s trying to notify every website I’ve linked to. Removing the “notify websites…” thing in the Settings has sorted it out right quick.
- Hot Earl Grey tea.
- Reading 77 Steps to Serendipity. It’s very interesting, what the author thinks will lead to serependitious happenings.
- We’re going on a walk, and also to visit the cemetery. Which means I’ll get some exercise, some fresh air, and be able to visit a calming place.
- Seeing the sunlight shine through the leaves on the Aspidistra’s in the window.
- Being able to type fairly quickly.
- Mom won her tea. She’s after some Russian Caravan tea, which is apparently very nice. Not being a tea drinker, I wouldn’t know.
- Going out for a nice walk in the countryside.
- Getting lost of nice photographs.
- The weather was nice and dry the whole time.
- The picnic at the end of the walk was very welcome.
- A nice nap when I got back in.
- We have rabbit stew for tea tonight. I haven’t had it for ages.
- Finding a cheap, eco-friendly-ish way to store my DVD’s - small paper bags. The cases take up huge amounts of space, so I can store them in a wallet, and put the series’ into paper bags with the name of the series on.
- Watching Wild China. It’s a fascinating series. I had no idea China was so big, or had such a variety of wildlife and people.
- Getting an Ebay parcel packed up and ready to go.
- Cold cold water.
- Free stationery.
- In spite of all the complaints I make, I’m still a lot better off than the majority of people on this planet.
- Another item I’m listing on ebay has a bid, so both items I’m currently selling will sell.
- I got caught up in the joy of 99p delivery, and bought some DVD’s. Thankfully, my Paypal balance paid for most of it.
Things I’ve laughed at today:
- Mom walking in the mud.
- Mom wiping the bench off with a tissue before we sat down.
- We had rabbit stew for tea, and the rabbit was rather lean. I don’t like carrots, which were in the stew, so I ended up with more food on my plate at the end of the meal than at the beginning.
- Laughing about rabbits with the family while watching Wild China.
Things I want to manifest:
- 2 more items listed on Ebay.
- A fantastic job.
Things I’ve done for others:
- I put some water in a pan boiling on the stove so it wouldn’t boil dry.
- Encouraged other people to get some exercise.
- Helped mom through the mud.

i, too, can drink coffee or tea, and sleep.
still, i’ve tried other things, and i simply love the taste and smell and all of the lovely things associated with coffee.
coffee coffee coffee
*sigh*

It’s not very often I have one. How’s the hat coming along?
June 1st, 2008 at 11:02 pmMr. Hot has stopped drinking coffee in the morning because it puts him back to sleep. Do you think it’s a ploy by the coffee growers association to make us buy more???

I hope not. I’m groggy enough in the morning without my coffee making me sleepy.

I’m so glad I’m not the webhost who has all those servers on it. I bey they’ll lose a fair bit of money from that.
June 2nd, 2008 at 9:47 amYou allowed to say what the ebay listing is?
