Things I’m Grateful For on Wednesday 25 June

Today’s list of things to be grateful for or appreciate:

  1. Getting a good night’s sleep.
  2. I’m coping much better with the early mornings than I was.
  3. Breakfast cereals. I actually woke up hungry today.
  4. The glory that is a hot shower.
  5. I have 2 days off in a couple of days.
  6. I’m going to send some more spec letters when I get in from work this afternoon.
  7. The cut on the pad of my thumb is healing. Which is good, because it’s in a very awkward position.
  8. I have enough fuel in the car to get to work with, and the means to get more on the way back.
  9. Realising that everything is “just a moment”, and that in the great big scheme of things, it only has whatever meaning I attach to it.
  10. Getting an answer to a question I hadn’t realised I’d asked. I’m due to have “a talk” with my boss regarding my behaviour, and I’ve been wondering how to handle it. I think I’m going to try non-attachment. I’m going to let him speak his piece, and leave it at that.
  11. The beautiful sunshine that was streaming in through the window when I was showering.
  12. Having time to myself before work.
  13. Finding a couple of really interesting articles.
  14. Safe driving.
  15. Work went well. I stretched 3 hours work out into 5¼.
  16. I saved some money by using my staff discount card, buying some nearly-out-of-date chocolate and getting some half price drinks.
  17. Chatting to Dinky after work.
  18. All of the work I did today was neatly finished and done. No loose ends were hanging. :cucumber:
  19. I got some fuel on the way home. Not as much as I wanted, but I figured there was no point going into debt for a few days wait.
  20. I’ve reached the end of the month debt free! Only just - I literally emptied my bank account today to get some fuel. But, I’m only this much short because I put a large amount of last months paycheck into my savings account. At the moment, I’m breaking even with available money. :plantain:
  21. I’m not doing news again for over a week. I shan’t miss the early mornings at all.
  22. Getting in from work, to find the table spread with food.
  23. A nice 3 hour long nap.
  24. The stable electricity supply that is charging my electric toothbrush, powering my computer, and enabling me to boil water for a drink.
  25. This is probably going to sound really horrible, but I am so very grateful that I don’t live in Zimbabwe.
  26. Trifle.
  27. Listening to ABBA. Yes, I admit it. Commence the stoning.
  28. Reading this article about justifying one’s choices in life. It really helped me realise why I behave in certain ways sometimes.
  29. Awww!
  30. Finding somewhere that sells cola pips. I haven’t seen these since I was a kid.
  31. Mom has bought me some more envelopes. I wonder if that’s an omen.
  32. I’ve just rang up to sort out access to my bank account online, and I spoke to a very helpful chap. I can now access my accounts online again, which I find essential. In the spirit of being grateful and sharing the wealth, I’ve emailed the company in question to let them know.
  33. Hot fruit tea.
  34. Getting some more info from Dinky that makes me feel better about having a chat with H tomorrow.
  35. Tasty hot fruit tea. I love Typhoo’s Cherry Charger. You only get an OO with Typhoo. Download link.
  36. Rani texted me earlier.

Things I’ve laughed at today:

  1. I insulted Nat by saying that she looked like a wag. She was once offered some lesbian literature while walking through town.

Things I want to manifest:

  1. A quick, simple, easy, pleasant day at work. MANIFESTED.

Things I’ve done for others:

  1. Served a few customers.
  2. Covered breaks.
  3. Sent a complimentary email.

I refuse to allow other people to force me to attach their meaning to an event they are trying to make negative. Instead I consider the moment and move on.

When talking to my “boss” I always use the “non-attachment” approach and say nothing. It irritates him because he knows I am thinking something, but refuse to share it. I once told him information is power and I refuse to give you any. Thus, I shall be silent and not give you information or power about or over me.

I think I might try this. My boss has only been in the job for 3 months, and has no idea about how to handle people. I could actually enjoy tomorrow’s “little chat”.

Thank you, I will. I’ve heard form a colleague today that my boss actually totally messed up in the situation leading up to this, so if it goes the way I think it might go, I’m within my rights to get the Union involved. Given the fact that he’s only been in this job 3 months, and that the boss I don’t get on with has apparently made a complaint to the regional security director and the regional manager about some things he messed up on, I don’t think he has a very bright future.

    What a shame.
