Things I’m Grateful For on Saturday 16 August
Today’s list of things to be grateful for or appreciate:
- Getting a good night’s sleep.
- Hot coffee.
- Deciding on a new Bach Flower set.
- Listening to Last.fm. It’s finding me some great new artists I like. And it’s totally free!
- Bunches have sent me another 10% discount voucher.
- I’m taking mom shopping tomorrow, as opposed to today. This means fewer queues and less hassles. Or, I could take her tonight, as the shop is open until 8PM.
- That Not Always Right updates right about the time I get up.
- My desk is completely clear. All I have on it are the essentials - my lamp, a pot plant, the monitor, the fan, my tub where I keep my bits, a coaster for my mug of hot drink and the mealworm culture.
- We now have 20 sparrows up the garden. I changed one of the feeders yesterday, from a closed mesh to an open mesh one, and they’re all over it today.
- Safe driving.
- Playing with Tess, my mechanic’s dog.
- Seeing the huge flock of about 30 sparrows that live in one of the hedges by my mechanic’s house.
- Moving through my comfort zone. See BFIT.
- A peanut Kitkat.
- Meeting the traffic jam on my way back from my mechanic’s, not on the way there.
- Having the radio in my car.
- Getting some cheap fuel simply and easily.
- I’ve been paid back by another $3 on Kiva.org. I’m up to $526 now.
- Smodging on Wenna.
- Hot fruit tea. I haven’t had any Cherry Charger for ages.
- Getting a couple of jobs off my job list done.
- While reading Bloom last night, I came across some ideas for some questions I will find useful to ask myself when working out what Remedies I need.
- This Youtube video:
& also this one:
- Putting pzizz on for a quick nap.
- Which I thoroughly enjoyed.
- Hot Teeccino.
- Spending some time perfecting the Wordpress Dashboard. It’s still not perfect, but it’s all working. The only thing I want to do now is edit the size of a Dashboard widget. They’re too big, and with the size of my monitor, I could squeeze 3 in a row.
- Finally finding a plugin that will do what I want. It’s called Mydashboard, and it’s based on AJAX, which means you can grab stuff and move it about. I now have everything I want on the dashboard, apart from one thing, but it’s not a major issue. It doesn’t show the amount of spam comments currently waiting to be dealt with.
- A nice hot bath.
- Realising that I need Walnut. I’m going to add it to the current mixture.
- I don’t have a large black growth on my chest. I’m sitting here with the fan on, and it’s blown some thin black plastic off the desk and onto my chest. I just looked down, and it was there. For a split second, I panicked.
- Realising that I can succeed in spite of those who would drag me down.
- I’ve sorted out a problem with the broken Wordpress visual editor I have on another blog. Until earlier, it was only displaying the HTML view, not the visual view. I installed the FCKEditor, which hos now restored my lovely rich text view.
- I’m off work all day tomorrow too.
- I can look forward to a nice good night’s sleep tonight.
- Doing some tidying up, because I know I’ll appreciate it tomorrow.
- Mom and dad posted some letters and a parcel for me today, which saved me the hassle of going to the post office.
- I’ve found a source for some hessian on ebay. It’s going to cost me a couple of quid, including postage, and I’m going to use it for supplying water to the mealworms, as an experiment. At the moment, they’re having lettuce, which is desiccating quite quickly, and they don’t seem all that able to eat apple. Perhaps a softer fleshed variety would work better? Anyway, I can always use the extra hessian as a lid for the tub.
- I’ve found a couple of smaller bottles of Walnut and Scleranthus to use up.
- I have a couple of jobs to do tomorrow.
Things I’ve laughed at today:
- This lolcat. And this one.
- This loldog. And this one.
- Kelley.
- This, this and this from Not Always Right.
- This lolprairiedog.
- While researching pillow technology (I’ve decided to buy a new pillow for my bed), I came across this list of novelty pillows. The last one is especially odd. Here’s the version for the ladies.
Things I want to manifest:
- A quick, pleasant trip to my mechanic’s. MANIFESTED.
- Working out a job list to do. MANIFESTED.
- Some fregair. MANIFESTED. Well, sort of. See #30 above.
Things I’ve done for others:
- Put the milk bottles out.
- Put the freezer away.

I used to love pandora, but they blocked access to those outside of the US.

That’s excellent. A major change like that going well really is something to be grateful for.
August 17th, 2008 at 9:43 amI am grateful for a sunny day today, but still couldn’t contemplate using a fan. It needs to be up somewhere in the 30s for that to be an option. But that in itself is something to be grateful for, because otherwise the postcards, photos, and assorted papers on my desk would be blown all over the room

I tend to use mine to help me cool down after a bath. I’m probably raising my blood pressure or something, but I do enjoy a nice hot soak.
August 17th, 2008 at 11:52 amI’ve never heard of Last.fm — how fun is that?! Thanks for the tip.
I’m actually listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers sing “Higher Ground” and your little red dancing peppers are *almost* dancing to the beat of the song!
Also, I like that box that asks how one found your site. Very clever. Honestly, I can’t remember how I found you. I think I clicked through from a comment you left at someone else’s pad.
You know I’m glad I found you

I seem to recall the peppers doing just that one time. I don’t recall the song though.
The extra comment field is via a plugin. I love seeing where people arrive from.
