Things I’m Grateful For on Thursday 14 August

Today’s list of things to be grateful for or appreciate:

  1. Getting a good night’s sleep.
  2. Waking up easier/better this morning than I have for a few days.
  3. Nice hot coffee.
  4. I’ve had a job application form arrive in the post this morning, which means I can apply for another job now.
  5. Holly. I’m feeling low grade aggression. Not entirely sure why.
  6. I might have a PC job coming up in the next couple of weeks. That will be a welcome chance to earn a bit of cash.
  7. Cherry Plum. Thank Providence I have an answer. I feel like laughing with relief right now. :broccoli:
  8. Breakfast cereals. Quick and simple.
  9. A nice hot shower.
  10. Safe driving. I love how economical my car is.
  11. Work went OK. It dragged a bit, but I still found plenty to occupy myself.
  12. A customer gave me 23p on a gift card, which I used, along with my staff discount card, to buy some half price snacks. I am so cheap.
  13. I avoided the bad weather all day.
  14. I saw some really beautiful clouds on the way to work, and a thundercloud on the way back. The clouds have been quite dramatic all day.
  15. A tasty bacon and egg sandwich.
  16. More hot coffee.
  17. Interesting fregair.
  18. Playing with Wenna.
  19. Sorting out the job application form.
  20. I’m off for 3 days now.
  21. I’ve found a couple of useful new plugins that I’m using on the blog. Both of them have to do with comments. The first one has been active for a day or two now, and if you’ve commented, you’ve probably seen a new box called “Found the site via:”. I’m using the Extra Comment Fields plugin to give me this functionality. You can add whatever fields you want, but I’m using it to ask people where they surfed in from. It’s completely optional, but I’m finding it quite useful to find out where new commentators are arriving at the site from. The second plugin, called MCEComments, is something that I’ve wanted for some time, but haven’t yet been able to offer. It’s a WYSIWIG editor for comments. When I’m commenting on someone’s blog, I find it really useful to know what HTML they allow in comments, be it bold, italic, etc. I sometimes like to embellish my comments, and add a bit of emphasis to certain words, or maybe add a link. I know HTML, so it’s easy to add it in, but it’s not always obvious whether HTML is allowed, or how the comment is going to look after I’ve saved it. Having a WYSWIG editor makes it so much easier, because it removes all doubt, and you can see right away how the comment will look when it’s posted. If you don’t wish to use any formatting, just enter your comment like you normally would.
  22. Working on the blog.

Things I’ve laughed at today:

  1. This, this, this and this from Not Always Right.
  2. This lolcat. And this one. And this one.
  3. This loldog. And this one.
  4. This lolprimate.
  5. This lolowl.

Things I want to manifest:

  1. A quick, calm, pleasant, simple, relaxed day at work. MANIFESTED.

Things I’ve done for others:

  1. Served a lot of customers in a pleasant manner, even the grown woman ho thinks it’s acceptable to snatch and throw money at people. Honey, I pity your children. :(

What a great idea this blog is! I use to keep a gratitude journal and I eventually lost my dedication to it, but it is TRULY a wonderful thing to have. You’ve inspired me to incorporate this into my blog :)

I finally had a good night’s sleep too. I worked extra hours at work and it has messed up my sleep schedule. It is hard for me to get it back to what I like. But I do have coffee to help me motor through the day.

I had to do earlies at work once, which meant me getting up about 5 hours earlier than I normally would. After about a month, I clicked and got used to it, and now I can do it just fine. I think it’s a matter of adaptation. Once you get into a rhythm you adapt to it.

Ha. We must be online at the same time. You just commented on my watermelon post! (URGH! I hate spam!)

A good night’s sleep is something I will not have for a good many years yet. I will enjoy them vicariously by reading your blog. Enjoy them!

Congrats on the new job app; best wishes that all goes well!

Thank you. It’s data entry, which I’ve never done before, but I figure that I might as well give it a go. Life is full of interesting things, and I wont get to experience them if I get stuck in a rut.

I love orange juice, but I have to pay a premium to get the decent stuff, otherwise it just tastes like battery acid (and is about as acidic). I do sometimes buy a big bag of oranges and have freshly squeezed juice, which is very nice indeed.
